Minnesota CLE Requirements
Minnesota's Continuing Legal Education (CLE) Requirement:
The State Bar of Minnesota requires attorneys to complete 45 Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) credit hours every 3 years. The 45 MN CLE hours must include 3 hours of Ethics / Professional Responsibility courses, 2 hours of Elimination of Bias, and 1 hour of Mental Health / Substance Abuse courses.
Due to recent rule changes, there is no longer a credit cap for on demand courses, and all 45 hours can be earned with LexVid on demand courses.
Minnesota CLE Deadline:
The Minnesota State Bar groups attorneys into 1 of 3 compliance group categories. Log into OASIS or search for your name in MARS to find your CLE category. The CLE deadlines for these groups are:
Category 1
Compliance Deadline: June 30th, 2027
Category 2
Compliance Deadline: June 30th, 2025
Category 3
Compliance Deadline: June 30th, 2026
Minnesota CLE Reporting Deadline:
Minnesota attorneys have until August 31st to report the CLE hours earned by June 30th of their compliance period. Courses taken online with LexVid will be reported to the Minnesota State Bar by LexVid on the attorneys behalf.
