Course Description

The Model Rules of Professional Conduct and their corresponding state ethics rules don't just apply to litigators; they apply just as strictly to every type of lawyer. Ethics rules regarding conflicts can be particularly tricky for non-litigating attorneys as potential conflicts of interest with transactional attorneys may not be apparent. This program will focus exclusively on how the ethical rules governing conflicts of interest apply to transactional attorneys. The presenter will cover a number of hypothetical situations and discuss best practices in terms of dealing with each situation.
Learning Objectives
* Understand how the Model Rules regarding conflicts apply to transactional attorneys
* Learn what types of conflicts can create ethical traps for transactional attorneys
* Discover ethical ways to overcome potential conflicts in a transactional practice
