Montana CLE Requirements

Montana's Continuing Legal Education (CLE) Requirement:
The State Bar of Montana requires attorneys to complete 15 Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credit hours every year. The 15 MT CLE hours must include 2 hours of ethics and/or professionalism. Of those 15 credits, at least 10 credits must be live (webcast, or in-person) and up to 5 credits may be taken online with on-demand programs (including the 2 required ethics credits).

Montana CLE Deadline:
Montana CLE deadline is March 31st of each year with a 6-week grace period during which attorneys can earn and report their CLE. Fees will be assessed if CLE credits are not earned and reported by May 15 of each year.

Montana attorneys self-report credits by sending the Montana Commission of CLE Credit Reporting Form, along with a certificate of completion, to cle@montanabar.org.
