The process of counseling a client through the adoption process tends to be long, highly complex, and expensive. This program will take a deep-dive into the adoption process and will analyze the many federal laws that govern adoptions in the United States. The speaker will provide a number of practice tips and state-specific issues to look out for when representing a client in an adoption. Among the topics covered are adoption type overview, international adoption laws and issues, agency vs. non-agency adoptions, cost of adoptions, the home study, ICWA, tax issues, interstate placements, and more.
