Vermont CLE Requirements

Vermont's Mandatory Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) Requirement:
The State Bar of Vermont requires attorneys to complete 24 Mandatory Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) credit hours every 2 years. The 24 VT MCLE hours must include 2 hours of Ethics, 1 hour of Attorney Wellness, and 1 hour of Diversity & Inclusion, and a minimum of 12  hours must be earned via moderated programming or programming with Interactivity as a Key Component

Vermont Self Study CLE Rules: 
Up to 10 credit hours may be earned online with on-demand courses which qualify as "self-study" programs.

Vermont MCLE Deadline:
The Vermont State Bar groups attorneys into 1 of 2 compliance groups depending on their year of admittance to the state bar. The MCLE deadlines for these groups is June 30th, 2 years after their compliance year.

For example is an attorney was admitted to the VT Bar in 2021 their next CLE compliance deadline would be June 30th, 2023. 

Vermont MCLE Reporting Deadline: 
Vermont attorneys must certify their compliance on their CLE Compliance Form by July 1st of their compliance deadline year.

Submit your Vermont CLE Compliance report by July 1st. Each certificate contains the information needed to report your CLE hours. Certificates of completion are emailed to you immediately upon course course completion.
