That detail belongs in written materials, and the oral presentation should only be a summary of the case law. This would enable him to cover more topics.
It would also be useful if the speaker would indicate upfront the topics he intends to cover in the presentation, which would force him to prepare an outline of the course, rather than just read notes of disparate topics.
Having said all that, I did learn a lot. There is nothing like listening to someone who is really expert in the filed.
