James K. Landau concentrates his practice in Commercial Litigation, Cannabis Law and appeals. Jim has over 30 years of commercial litigation experience. Before coming to McCarthy Fingar, Jim developed his practice at Proskauer Rose LLP, Brown Raysman Millstein Felder & Steiner LLP and Ellenoff Grossman & Schole LLP.
Jim represents clients in litigation before Federal, State and Local courts and other tribunals, including arbitration and mediation before the American Arbitration Association.
Moreover, as head of our Cannabis Law group, Jim has become a thought leader in the New York Cannabis legal community. Thus, he frequently writes and speaks on such topics as attorney ethics, cannabis banking and licensing of cannabis businesses. Jim is a member of the New York State Bar Association‘s Committee on Cannabis Law. He also Co-Chairs the Westchester County Bar Association’s Cannabis Law Committee, and Chairs the Regulatory Committee of the Hudson Valley Cannabis Industry Association.
Jim has been recognized as a New York Metro Super Lawyer® in the area of Commercial Litigation since 2012, and as a Top 25 New York Super Lawyer® for Westchester County since 2018. In addition, Jim has received a peer review rating of AV®Preeminent on Martindale-Hubbell®.
