Families in the U.S. are increasingly relying on ARTS, or assisted reproductive technologies, to have children. As the science in this area continues to advance, so does the law. ARTS law is most closely tied to adoption law, but it is largely rooted in contract law. In this program, presented by the President of the American Academy of Adoption Attorneys, viewers will be given an overview of this emerging legal subject. Among the topics discussed are: - Available technologies and terminology - Prerequisites prior to contract drafting - Drafting basics and provisions to include - Important legal issues (divorce and frozen embryos, abortion and selective reduction provisions, choice of law, and issues related to international, single, same-sex, and unmarried couples
